I have this issue with BF2 and Lag spikes. I get a small connection error the a Ping spike for 60-80ms - 600-800ms then it goes away. after troubleshooting for a while I have found a way to make the Lag spikes stop. Unfortunately it is by disabling in game VOIP which really sucks. I am a team player and would like to be able to communicate with squads when commanding and Squad members when in a squad. My communication is just with the boys on vent and that is it.

Basically I am just wondering who has had this same trouble, and if they were able to resolve it. I am pretty handy around computers and would like to try some options to utilize both Vent and in Game VOIP.

System Specs:

AMD 3200+
1.5 GB Ram
250 GB Sata drive
Realtek High Definition Audio
Logitech Premium USB Headset
nVidia 8800GT 512 GDDR3

Internet connection:

8Mb Cable.

Any help would be great.

It could have something to do with QOS, since VOIP traffic is flagged as high priority.  Here is a tutorial on how to disable it in Vista:

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/10932 … limit.html

QOS definition:
Quality of Service (QoS) is a set of technologies for managing network traffic in a cost effective manner to enhance user experiences for home and enterprise environments. QoS technologies allow you to measure bandwidth, detect changing network conditions (such as congestion or availability of bandwidth), and prioritize or throttle traffic. For example, QoS technologies can be applied to prioritize traffic for latency-sensitive applications (such as voice or video) and to control the impact of latency-insensitive traffic (such as bulk data transfers).
