okays, so me has new car.

'00 Volks Jetta. It has a "premium" stereo system, with a 6-disc charger in the boot. Problem is, the CD player in the dash has a problem. When I stick a CD into it, it won't play. In fact, I have to push the CD 3/4 of the way in before the motor grabs it. Then I select the "dash" option, and instead of playing, the CD POPS OUT!!
The charger plays fine, though. So I stick all my discs into it, and try again. Now the dash player just whirs every 6 seconds, pointlessly. The "cd in" light goes on for 2 seconds, then goes out.

Anyone know what's going on?

take it to the dealer.

or a stereo shop....if i were you, i would just look into a good head unit instead of replacing factory shit.
BUT, some installs are more expensive if you have the "premium" deal....

anyway, good luck man. it sucks not having music in the car.

So you can still use the 6 disc changer? I'd just live with it. I only have a (10) CD changer in my current car, no dash mounted CD player at all, I don't find it a problem. If you want to sort it out it'll probably end up costing you more than it's worth to do.

Take it to my neighbor. He will fix it for free.

Is he in tonight?

@Bertster: I don't mind it not working. I mind the annoying whirring sound it makes. All the time!

In that case; pull it out, open the drive, remove the motor.

Voila, no more whirring.
