Looking for a router

OK, friend of mine is looking to set up wireless LAN in his house. It's going to be through aDSL, so keep that in mind. Needs to support N-standard (preferably) and be reliable. It's going to probably be installed in the basement of his house and the walls are all concrete bricks.

I recomend a Netgear one. Pricey but reliable. The one I have is coming up to 2 years now. And it has never given me any problems. Also look around and check out user reviews before you buy one.

Netgear is definitely the premium for networking parts, but I've always used Linksys as a cheaper alternative and never had any problems.

I'm always surprised at the quality of most Linksys stuff I deal with, coming from Cisco and all.

Over here Linksys is $30 more than the equivalent, and Netgear is priced the same as D-Link.

Personally I'd go Linksys, at least the bastard stays connected to my Water Enhanced^© copper line albeit sometimes as low as 400kbps. Nothing else even syncs.

Linksys doesn't come from Cisco. Linksys is its own company with its own engineers, and while there might be some sharing of resources between the brands, Cisco bought Linksys because Cisco didn't want to enter the market independently, and they keep it that way. Linksys is about as much Cisco as a Ford with a Toyota sticker on it is a Toyota.
