DVD Region 2!??! WTF?!?!

Ok, so i'm trying to watch I, Robot on my new computer, but it won't let me because apparently i have Windows Media Player/Center set to "DVD region 2" and i need to set it to "DVD region 1" that's fine, but

#1 i don't even know how it got set that way, or why it matters
#2 i can't find out where to change it, i go into the WMP help thing and go to "change region settings" but there isn't a place to change my region from 2 to 1, all it has is that i'm located in the US

WTF?

i'm on Vista btw, and i have a hunch maybe that's part of the problem

Right click on your drive and change it that way. (works in xp anyway) click properties, hardware, region settings. Then just click on whichever country you want or region number.

Remember you only have a few changes before the lock becomes permanent.

United States is Region 2. Set your country to UK (I think that's Region 1, don't remember) and it should work.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity.
