Help for a mate

Mate of mine broke the 3.5mm audio jack on her laptop, and now audio wont work. i guess USB speakers would work, as they wouldnt relay on the 3.5mm jack, but can you actually get usb speakers?

And is there anyway to check if her soundcard or w/e is totally fucked, making it pointless to pick up some USB speakers?

You can always take the speakers back to the store and change it for something else. For a USB X-fi sound card for instance-only costs around 50€.

Right click my computer and go to manage, then device manager...that should tell you if the sound card is running properly...But i would go for the usb speaker option...i know logitech have a range of usb speakers
