Lag spikes

Hi guys just wondered if you lot could help me.

Last night my norton self destucted, so I am now using Zone alarms, but today when I have been gaming, I have been suffering massive lag spikes, some times my ping as high as 700.

Could zone alarms be causing this and is there anyway to stop it?

Also is there any other better free firewalls out there?

i was advised by ea tech to uninstall zap.its firewall is difficult to disable i think.im not real good with zap though.keep up the pics:D

i use sygate personal firewall, however i have these same 'lag spikes' as you and only scince the 1.2 patch.....hmmmmm sometimes my ping just shoots to over a few hundred, ive had over 1000 a couple of times, no idea why and normaly it hovers around the 21 mark. but the firewall is ok, its the one ive always used, i did try zone alarm once but it messed up my pc and i had to reinstall windows

Think I have fixed it, I uninstalled Zone Alarms and am now using sygate firewall.

I also had trouble with my game crashing to windows, it seems to have stopped now zone alarms has gone.

What do you guys think, could zone alarms have caused my game to crash?
