My speakers still skipping.

I have a Logitech Z-5500 surround sound system. With XFI fatil1ty platinum sound card.

My sound will skip for about a second, whether I am watching a film, or playing a game, or watching a video on Youtube. Anything with sound skips for a second. It can be every 5 minutes. Or only once an hour, but it's very annoying!

I recorded a video with Fraps, and the sound skipped as I was recording. But when I played back the sound was there... which is strange.

Any ideas?

If the sound happens when ur recording and you are able to play back and hear the skip then sounds like it isnt really skipping but actually making a 'real' noise, my guess would be to try onboard sound, which will most likely be fine..check if card is seated properly...correct drivers....try different speakers or headphones

The sound doesn't skip with my headphones. But they are plugged straight into the card = /

How are your speakers connected? Try using a different connector type, maybe an optical lead?

So headphones are fine but speaker arent??

Coax cable.

Getting a new one soon as it's only about 2 meters long.

Sounds like an intermittent problem in your speakers, either with the cord, or your speakers themselves. Try swapping out different cables, and double check connections to see if you can figure out exactly where the issue is.

Yea, sounds like you have a bad connection somewhere. Prolly not a software issue regarding the drivers, though. If the problem persists after you switch cords, then the problem is in your speakers.

I had the same problem with my old Z-5500's... so I bet it's the cable. I shall get a new one, cheers guys.
