Anyone ever done this? I'm looking to put Ubuntu onto a virtual machine to mess around with,
Wondering if there's any way of installing it, it having a virtual hard drive and all...

I'm using The Virtual PC 2007 SP1, from the microsoft site, and trying to install ubuntu... 8.10 AMD64

Any ideas?

EDIT: nvm, Apparently doesn't like the 64bit version of software, so i'll download the 32bit and see how it goes.

VMware is where you should look to. Or even better: if you have the installation CD you can just put it in, change your BIOS settings to run first your CD/DVD drive and you can run it from there without having to install it.

Yeah, I worked out the whole thing to do with using the ISO, which I had a 64bit version of, 'cause of my 64bit processor.
I've it installed on a partition on my second HDD, and was wanting to delete it from there and just virtual PC it.

I've got a 32bit ISO of the Ubuntu Desktop client torrenting tonight, so i'll get back to yeez all tomorrow

I agree with Yaocetotl on using VMWare

But I would start with a pre built (free) VM ... http://www.visoracle.com/download/ubuntu/

I can tell you from a couple years of personal experience that MS Virtual PC fails.

I've done the Live CD option before, but I was looking into something different.

I'm looking at the VMware stuff, but I've no idea which one to download, I've got the VMware version of Ubuntu downloading (more downloadzzz =[)

I'll eventually get this done...
