The controversial Austrian far-right leader Jörg Haider was killed in a car accident today, two weeks after staging a comeback in national elections. His car veered off the road near the southern city of Klagenfurt and overturned while trying to overtake another vehicle, according to police officials. There was no sign of foul play.

Mr Haider was born in the Upper Austrian town of Bad Goisern in 1950. His parents were very early members of the Nazi party, who moved to Germany where they became party officials.

This douche nearly ran me over in his limo once and prevented me from meeting up with my mates for drinks in the college he was speaking at as a guest because of extra security measures as a result of his controversial nature.

They were scoring good on elections causing a lot of problems to Austria (like sanctions). Than they had a fight and ruined the party and eventually split up. So for a while there were 2 crazy parties with crazy people split between them. That is called by many the "Golden Time" in Austria. Except with all the crazy "oh nooo the Muslims are taking over the world" propaganda the both parties were gaining support.

FPO - Freedom Party of Austria 17.54 +6.50
BZÖ – Jörg Haider's List 10.70 +6.59

As you can see, both parties are up by about 6.5% compared to last election which equals to around 660.000 new supporters

Now that Haider is dead his party is going to collapse and his supporters will all emigrate to the other party - the FPO, lead by a dental technician who is equally, if not more crazy than Haider.

Perhaps you misunderstood my original post... I never meant to imply that there was any deliberate intent from GWB to fan the flames of racism around the world, it just so happens that his foreign policy and the replacement of Communists with Muslims has inadvertently had this exact knock-on effect. Add an economic crisis to the mix and you have a great recipe for increased nationalism and hatred towards 'untrustworthy' outsiders... just ask any German around the time of the Weimar Republic!

Also, right, hard-right and ultra-right are all on the wrong side of the racist spectrum... obviously a moderate right-wing conservative isn't automatically a racist but right-wing conservatism ultimately results in racism when you go far enough in that political direction (in most European countries at least, America may be different because of the melting-pot nature of its own national identity).
