Transfer GB from D: to C: ?

I have a little problem with my PC... No more space in the C:, when i bought the computer they divided both hard drive but 50% of the hard drive in each one (C: and D

I want to know if theirs a way i can take some gb out of the D: and put it in the C: ????

Humm, HD got partitioned or watever its spelled like, i dont really any easy ways to "play" around with that. Might need to format thar buddy.

is it one physical dive? Or two separate ones?

If it's one physical drive, you can just use the partition software that come with vista (the one advantage over XP, tbh...)

1. Move your paging file from C: to D:, that might buy you a GB or two

2. If you have a huge tree of files on C: you can make a linked folder in NTFS that actually points to another device (I don't mean a shortcut).

edit: also, if is just a partition there is a way you can take it off (without reformatting) if you can move the files off of 1) D: temporarily 2) you have nothing in an installation referencing D: (i.e. D: is just random shit you have copied there)

It is one physical drive... I can use the partition software and play with them without making a recovery ?

Maybe you're really poor but HDD is the most buy worthy PC component if you look at the GBs you get for money you pay.

best way to go around this would be to:
shrink the D drive by a fair amount
make a new partition in the empty space.
Copy all your data on D to the new partition
delete D
rename your new partition to D
expand partition C

all of this is done from disk management (right click computer --> manage)

Erm not being funny or anything but that's just a standard D: partition, cut and paste whatever shit you want from C and paste it on D, job done 0_o it's a damn site easier than expanding your C:

I used to do this with my old drives, but most partition software lets you just move files and expand the partitions.

Only problem though is if you have 100GB on your D partition, it'll take like 3 hours for it to be resized.

My C Partition is only 100GB and I've been able to consistently keep it at 30GB free, uninstall some stuff you don't need, move your pictures, music and video to your other partition, run CCleaner, and you're home free.

Yeah, when I screwed up my Vista partition (editing system files for using custom themes) I made a mistake, to the point where Vista wouldn't boot in Safe mode.

Booted up my XP partition, and was able to save Vista by undoing the damage. Moving files is as simple as copy and paste, but if you want to resize your partition, then I suppose use the advice everyone else is giving you.

Now is also a good time yo go through your computer and throw away crap you don't need.
