Yes, after 12 years of use my Microsoft Precision Pro stick finally kicked the bucket.  She was a great joystick, and easily the most underrated of all time.  Sadly, they dont sell these anymore and used ones that still work are hard to come by, so for now i have a cheap Logitech Attack 3 sitting here until i get a better one.  Basically a what-should-i-get thread.

Req:
- <100 bucks.
- Sold at retail stores is preferred.  I can't get a credit card right now, and my parents are still reluctant to buy online, even if i pay them back.  If the deal really is that good i will make an exception.
- Z-axis.
- Must have a hat-switch.
- The more thumb buttons the better.
- Is it "smooth"? Is it durable? etc.  Basically personal experience if there is any.
- Righty, so does not need to be ambidextrous.
- Corded or not=irrelevent.

This will be used for Battlefield 2 Plane whoring and whatever else i can find for it.

OR, if you have more luck than me, and manage to find a reasonably priced (no more than 40) Precision Pro that ships to Canada and is not located overseas (massive S+H, CBA), you can bypass all of this.

Meh @ 3dPro. Doesn't feel right. I'd suggest the MS Sidewinder 2, but they don't make that anymore. I'm scared shitless as to what I'm going to do when my sw 2 shits itself. I've been using Sidewinders since i was born. (Original from 96) Amazon has em, but they are very expensive.

I'd take a look at some of the saiteks then. Granted, I haven't used one, but I'm sure they're great.

Saitek x52 flight control system.  Might be overkill for BF2 flying, but it's the most advanced joystick/throttle combo on the market.  Sells for about $100 in stores like Best Buy.

Saitek ST290 Pro

Hat Switch? Check
Thumb Buttons? 5
Z Axis? Check
Retail item? I've seen them anywhere from Best Buy, to pc stores to Walmarts, pretty easy to find.

Also well under $100, coming in at the $30~ range.  I currently have one, and concidently enough replaced my dying Attack 3 with it a few years back, great unit, pretty durable, and works well for the games I play(ed) with it(FS 9/X, BF2/2142).  I would greatly recommend it.

On an offtopic note, has you Attack 3 developed the constant pull to the left or right?  From my understanding its quite common amongst them, and difficult to correct as it doesnt show up in calabration or dead zone modifying, was what doomed mine

I doubt that would happen right now seeing how i just got it today...

A problem i might have is with that throttle, it looks like it could catch your hand when you pull back.

Really? I think it kinda sucks... They are priced right, and pretty close to good enough for BF2... but thats about as enthusiastic as I could get. Mine needs a big dead zone to compensate for the typical cheap logitech potentiometers...

I can see why people would get them, but owns face seems a bit strong for such a meh product...

I have never heard a good thing reading reviews about Logitech's joysticks. Everyone said go to a Saitek. You can get those pretty much anywhere.
