I have an in-built card reader in my laptop which I used for the first time today.

So I put the card in, went to the Computer screen and couldn't find the drive. Then I went to Disk Management, found the Drive which was marked as Online but had no Drive Letter, Tried to assign it one and got this message:

The operation failed to complete because the Disk Management console view is not up-to-date. Refresh the view by using the refresh task. If the problem persists close the Disk Management console, then restart Disk Management or restart the computer.

I installed all the drivers that came with the laptop when I got it, but I did change the version of Vista that came with it (Vista Premium to Vista Ultimate)

Any Ideas?

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

I've been very happy with it. Even though I tried yesterday to add disk space on C: by snagging 10Gb off another partition -> epic failure.
I need around tree fiddy.

I've done that couple times. What was the problem?

Bad sectors on drive F:, i believe. It gave me an error message, rebooted and restored everything as it was.

try a different card if you have one... maybe the card isn't working right, or worse, the reader might be broken.

Ye the I like Acronis cos first it does a test run and if everything is okay then it applies changes. You can't mess anything up.

I tried the card in another computer and it works fine, when I try to format the card with disk management I get:

An unexpected error has occurred. Check the System Event Log for more information on on the error. Close the Disk Management console, then restart Disk Management or restart the computer
I'll try Acronis later, but will that fix the problem or is it more likely a problem with the drive itself? After all, I shouldn't need to use disk management just to look at the card.
