How about a TV remote control that you can phone if it's lost? The way you would if your mobile phone was lost! You could even communicate with it using bluetooth maybe? Actually I think you can already get remote controls that make noise when a button on the TV set is pressed.
How about an easy to use domestic version of the DVD barcode filing systems that movie rental houses use for people with big movie collections? I'm always lending out films to people and losing track of where they are... not really a new invention, more a variation on an already existing one.
