So I figured out today I have DDR memory... not ddr2. Anyways, I ran the test at crucial.com and I'm like "Sweet, let's look for some ddr memory" but then I look and apparently 1024 mb is my cap..... I have 1 gb. Can I be sure that's all my board can hold?
Look up your motherboard?
It's the stock board for a Dell 2350...lolCrazeD wrote:

Download CPU-z and look at the mainboard tab to figure out what the motherboard is, then look it up.
Manu: Dell
Model: 07W080
Chipset: intel i845gl revision b1
sb: intel 82801DB (ICH4)
LPCIO: SMSC LPC47M10x
under "SPD" it says max bandwidth is PC 2100 but the crucial test said I have PC 2100 but I support 2700 and 3200...?

Don't upgrade that. Just save up for something new.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Well I figured I could probably nag my parents out of some extra memory to up my fps.Freezer7Pro wrote:

And since I'm taking Cisco's "IT Essentials" my mom would probably let me install it myself.
Nag them over time for a new system, rather, new parts to a new system.Noobpatty wrote:

They'll just tell me to get a job, when I can't.
I asked my mom if she'd consider buying me Fable 2 after my all 90 grades and she's like "maybe for Christmas"
fuck, the only games I've gotten this year have been overlord and dead rising, both which I used my own money on and didn't last me more than a week or two. I mean jesus christ I haven't fucked up at all this year/ missed a single homework assignment, I'm not addicted to anything, I have never smoked weed, I haven't even had more than a sip or two of alcohol, I help her with my two sisters all the time and she's absolutely miserable when I try to help and just yells at me. And we're definitely nowhere near financially unstable.
Youre lucky your parents even consider getting games for you. Just mow some lawns on the weekend and research a good game to buy. As for computer upgrading, why cant you get a job? It isnt the easiest thing to arrange when you have school, but it isnt impossible. Life guarding, for example, isnt hard and I know a few of my friends work only a few days a week so they can have money for things and still have time for school/wtf ever else.

For a greater America.
Then stick with what you got. That thing isn't evn worth spending £10 on.

why is it kids these days think / expect to be rewarded for good grades ? you go to school for your education, not theirs.Noobpatty wrote:

Because parents are nice. It's often the only income kids these days have.twoblacklines wrote:

I'm fifteen, I have to wait another year to be employed..it's just that they can't throw me a drop of cash out of their fat wallets, it's not like I expect something out of good grades, it's that I am doing well this year and haven't talked back or anything and there's absolutely no change.
start being a cunt to them then ?
Wait, you can't get a job until you are 16? Wow, that sucks...
Wait one year
Get a job
Build another PC from scratch
????
Profit

Mow lawns? Babysit? Sell drugs?
Ahhh that sucks. Here in Washington (state, not DC) Im fairly sure 15 year olds can get jobs, just the total time each week is restricted...
You might want to try asking your parents if theres anything around the house you could do for some money. If you are good with computers and have some patience to fix things, you could also put flyers up around your neighborhood and tell your neighbors you can help them with setup of equipment and stuff. I did that and ended up with a few loyal customers

Birthday/wait for Christmas? Usually you can get good deals on computers a few days after the holidays (stores are trying to sell all of the extra shit they ordered)
