Poseidon - seriously dude, Ajax is right - if you think not having some new clothes even within a single 4 month period is some kind of hardship, well, let's just say, you probably have a much higher average standard of living than a lot of people.
That doesn't take anything away from what hardships you do have, just as, as you correctly state, your statements don't take anything away from anybody else's hardships, but 'not being able to buy new clothes for 4 months' is not a hardship, even for a 'growing lad' (that may work on your mum/dad, but it ain't gonna work here).

The bottom line is everyone is going through hard times at the moment. We've lived the life of luxury for too long and now it's coming back to haunt us.

Sad to hear that UK. Not the first time we have had ppl on these boards effected by the current financial crisis. Thankfully your in the UK and if its any consolation and the worst comes to the worst your family will always have a roof over their head provided by the state.

I knew it was not good, but its terrible, they have missed their last mortgage repayment and cant pay their next one either, bills are sending notices to be paid, everything and i mean everything is in the red.

Good luck Elite. I'm a bit worried for my mother's financial situation. Once my parents' divorce is finalized, I don't think she gets covered by my dad's company's medical insurance plan. She's been trying to find a good policy, but companies don't want her because she has pre-existing conditions (namely depression or bipolar disorder).
She has to take a fair number of medications, medications that are incredibly fucking expensive without insurance. I mean shit, my accutane costs like $400 but insurance covers $390 of that. I really hope she can get a policy or a job that will cover her

The sooner you speak to your mortgage provider, the more likely it is they can actually help. People seem to have this idea that there all nasty fuckers, and, sure, profit is motivation, and there are twats around, but you will find that these people understand that it is someones home, and there family, not just a number, and they will help you. If they can. The sooner, certainly is, the better.
It really comes down to priorities. Mortgage is key tbh. Credit card companies tend to cause the most noise, but, not paying them wont result in you loosing your house. Mortgage is different. Economise the essentials (food, electricity, and gas), and put what you can into the mortgage.
As has been said, seek quality advice.

That really sucks, sorry to hear that, but i guess there will be a whole lot more of that going around soon.
Luckily we own our house, have no mortgages, no loans from any banks, and have our money distributed through several banks/institutions so it wont get frozen if one goes down. so things arnt looking to bad for my family. but we are some of the lucky ones.

And is why I recommend your parents talk to someone qualified to help them, Elite - if the provision is any good in your part of the country (dontcha just love postcode-funding), they should go the Citizens Advice Bureau - they'll need to see all your parents finances, bills, etc, etc, but basically, they'll advise your parents on how to proceed - they may even offer to do all the negotiating between your parents, their bank(s), the energy/fuel companies and so on - would take a lot of the stress away from you and your parents.

There are homeless in Belfast, but they are mostly alcos or Addicts. The rest on N.Ireland is prity much free of homelessness. Not sure of the rest of the UK. I know ppl who have lost their homes. They get emergency shelter until a house is available for them within 12hours. The state will rent private properties for homeless families. The state has to provide you with shelter if you loose your house. Even if its a B&B or a hotel until they sort you a house. You just have to go to the housing executive and demand it. You'd probably be surprised how many weren't Alcos or Addicts before they became homeless. And just how many are homeless because of financial pressures.JahManRed wrote:
