At the begginning of Half - Life 2, You wake up on a train not knowing you have accepted his offer. In Half Life - 2 Episode 2, Eli explains him to be some sort of "Mutual Friend".
Hopefully in Episode 3, The G-Man will be revealed.

Quarbani Sighn [FC2] for being the most awesome buddy in the game, the best part was that his awesomeness is unscripted, he can die die at any time and you need to get on the ground and fight to keep him alive, also when you think you're dead and it's time to hit F9 and redo the past 15 minutes cuz you forgot the save, he comes in and gets you out of trouble. While this can be said for any buddy in FC2, Quarbani was the coolest guy among them (or well maybe not, I never found Paul, Frank or Marty and Andre was hit by a mortar in an early side mission that he rescued me in).
Louis [L4D] For looking exactly like Dave Chappelle, and he still is wearing a tie despite the zombie apocalypse, which shows that he cares about looking clean even when he's probably going to die and be ripped apart.
Marcus Fenix [GoW] He has the most utterly ridiculous lines in any video game ever, made even more ridiculous by his "20 packs a day" voice. Also I love the du-rag and that small tuft of hair between his chin and lower lip, it is just silly.
