Hi folk,

anyone know of a good place to buy Laptop GPU's?

I am looking to upgrade my laptop, but all the sites that I usually visit, scan.co.uk, dabs.com, etc... dont seem to sell Laptop GPU's?

I think Bell was looking into this a while ago (6 months?). I don't know if he ended up finding it... I'd talk to him nonetheless

It's hard to do, I think. Sometimes, impossible, because it's all soldered into the motherboard AFAIK.

eBay. No, seriously, about the only place that has any.

Also make sure your laptop is MXM compliant, and what class it is, as well as make sure it's got appropriate cooling.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

thanks for the links Dauntless. My Laptop is one of the few exceptions that it says can be upgraded following this documentation - link

will search ebay for a new card I think, see what comes up.

Yeah thats true I was. Locating the video card in question though was a huge pain in the ass. When I eventually did find one, it was going for silly money.

ebay is probably going to be your only hope of finding one at a somewhat decent price. I just had to replace one on mine. while I was at it, I changed the cpu and gpu over to AS5. :p
