I like diversity: concrete, hills, gravel. MP3 player is a must. Running and nature. Fells great. Also my nose gets completely cleared after a good, long run.
I need to find somewhere to get some good trainers, the ones i have are great for running on concrete but on bumpy ground they're pretty bad, Also i have some weird problems with my ears so headphones annoy me alot. Listening to music at home and such is ok, but running it just annoys me.
I have these:

120€ made for pronators but these "pro" marathon shoes are neutral. I have a slight supination and I don't feel the reinforcement on the inner part of the shoe. So basically if you need the pronation, it will help you stabilize you foot/feet, if you don't need it you won't even notice its there.
Its the lightest pair I have even held in my hands, and I held lots of shoes. Its like you're bearfooted. The grip is amazing, even after couple of marathons.

10km isn't a marathon by any means. A Marathon is 42kms, (fine, 42.195 if you want to be pedantic.) 10km is a decent run though, I remember when I was on the school cross country team we had to run 10km every Thursday morning. No wonder I fucking quit.
Its an organized run. Its called a "recreational marathon". Its practice for the big marathons.

Yer, some people call it a "Fun Run".

Oh, on running shoes - I have Slazenger shoes that I bought from The Warehouse like, seven years ago for $30. A little worse for wear and definitely not great for running but I'm not bothered to buy new ones.

What's a good way to start running? I have a "time" set up, I'd like to run in the morning right after waking up.

Is it better to run for as long as possible without walking even if it's a really short distance (in the beginning) or to walk/run with as much running as possible? I sort of hurt my knees in early June but I think I should be able to run now. I live in a city so I would mostly be running on sidewalks/running paths.

I used to do the stationary bike for 60 minutes a day but I haven't done much of anything since June.

p.s. I'm a smoker (would be willing to cut down drastically and not smoke for a few hours after running)

Depends if you want to build up your stamina or burn fat.

Ok good point.

What I'd really like to do is get into a routine of running every day so that I can clear my head in the morning and hopefully keep up the routine so that years from now when I'm in my 30's I won't gain 100 pounds. It's pretty easy for me to stay slim at 20.

I don't run daily, but maybe one day a week I'll run 2 miles. I like running, for the most part anyway. I have small lungs, but a good running form.

My best time was 5:56 for a mile, while nothing impressive was big for me. If I were to train I could probably drop another 30 seconds, but I don't have the drive to run anything more than 2-3 miles. I ran cross country in middle school with my best friend, but dropped it for high school. He runs for his high school who went to regionals... possibly state (?) last year.

It's refreshing, a nice steady pace for a mile or two.

I do a bit of running... I got shin-splints a while ago and am still having some problems though so I havn't gone much recently. Problem was my shoes had no padding left on them... I ran like 3 miles one day in my puma's which were really thin, and could barely walk afterwards cus my shins felt like they were gonna fall off...

i run for my school. we run 8k for meets. and probably run about 75 miles a week for practice ... i enjoy running

and for the pot smokers every good runner smokes here. in high school when we ran 5k's the top 10 would all go out for a smoke after the race. and they were running a good 15 min. 5k

Only if I'm late. Which I rarely am.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I mis-read this thread title as "Any rumours on this forum?"

I was about to start a few.
