i bought a viewsonic (1280x1024) about 3yrs ago for PC gaming, but i now want to upgrade as i watch tv & torrented movies on my PC. here are my requirements:

- 22" widescreen minimum
- integrated speakers (i only have a pair of cheap stereo separates atm)
- height adjustable (has to go in a cabinet)
- quality brand (happy with viewsonic, but if there is a better manufacturer that's fine)
- full HD (not sure if this is important)
- energy efficient

cheers in advance.

I don't recommend integrated speakers, any 5€ speakers are better than those. Well monitors aren't full HD since their res is a bit different to what HD standard has but you will still be able to watch full HD movies.

sounds logical, don't bother with integrated speakers then.

I was looking at this earlier.

Looks good for the money, I'm still a Samsung boy though.

EDIT: Just thought I'd point out it does 1080HD standard 1920x1080, monitors are usually 1920x1200 (someone said up top that monitors don't usually do HD standard res's, which is true but, this one does).

The speakers aren't totally shit either

thanks, what samsung equivalent would you recommend? T220?

HD isn't essential for me movie-wise but i'm unsure about how important HD will become for gaming, i want to keep this monitor for a good 3yrs .

^ Thats the samsung equivelant, it's not HD, for 1080+ on a monitor running standard monitor res you need a 24".

The thing with the Viewsonic i posted is it was packing 1920x1080 onto a screen size you'd normally run at 1680x1050, so things would be a bit smaller than you're used to.

^ That's what you'd need to be looking at for HD gaming, much pricier than the Viewsonic but the panel quality is what you're paying for.

EDIT:

^ A bit of light reading to explain the price difference, the Viewsonic almost certainly uses a TN panel, cheap low end panel, with deceptivly fast response times that make it look better than it is (it's by no means bad, I wouldn't have shown it to you if it was but, it's not going to match the Sammy for image quality), the Samsung uses a PVA panel.

The difference between 2ms and 5ms is nothing, you'll see absolutly no difference at all, if you can push to the extra cash I'd go for the 24" and get a full HD capable monitor.
