THE head boy of a private school in Perth will have to sit his exams elsewhere for his own safety after he delivered a spray of abuse at a graduation ceremony.
Perth Now reports that Gary Rego, 16, delivered the fiery valedictory speech to Corpus Christi students and parents on Sunday night.
Gary said it was “really sad”, in light of a car crash that killed three students in August, that principal Vaughan Sadler was not at the graduation dinner but was "holidaying and watching cricket in a far away land".
Of the school’s acting principal, Gary said: "We all know what it means to be under the authoritarian and dictatorial rule, thanks to Sue Baker . . . in trying to gag freedom of speech, thought and expression," he said.
Three men eventually walked onstage and stopped Gary from continuing his speech.
One student filmed the speech, which was posted on YouTube.
Dr Baker denied Gary's allegations and said he would have to sit his exams at another venue because of students' reactions to what he had said.
