Well i have one hd with tons of music that i want to get off. He said i could make it a slave drive and plug it in my parents computer. Boot off the master drive and get what i want off the slave drive. Will this work with an SATA Hard drive and an IDE hard drive?
Yes and Yes. You only have to worry about slavery (lol) with IDE drives I think. Just put the jumper in the right place, hook it up, turn on compy, copy-pasta.
Master IDE
Slave SATA
So no drivers no nothing. Ight good thanks mtb!

If you have two IDE drives, make one master and one slave, then plug it in so the far end of the IDE cable is in the master. The middle connector goes to the slave.NeXuS wrote:

'Slave' and 'Master' have no meaning for SATA drives. Just plug them in.
Yea well i have an IDE and an SATA drive. There won't be any conflicts correct?Defiance wrote:

Those are model specific.NeXuS wrote:

Most times you can find such a diagram printed on the HD itself. If not, post HD type here.
Set the IDE to Master or Single, and then pick which one you want to boot from in the BIOS.NeXuS wrote:
