Question about 360 controller

If I get a 360 controller for my PC, will it only work for games that specifically support it, or will it work for any game?

..and if not, could I use that program that uses joystick buttons to stimulate keyboard keys on it? (I forgot the name of it..)

I may be wrong, but I believe it'll work with any game that supports DirectInput devices (i.e. anything that uses DirectX, i.e. just about everything).

it will work for pretty much every game. JoyToKey (or something like that) should work fine with it

Yeah it works for any game that supports controllers. The nice part about games that support it is they use the actual button names from the controller (ie. A,B,X,Y, LT. RT) instead of button 1 , button 2 and so on.

Yeah, any game you can configure a joystick to will work with it. Some games aren't made specifically to use it though and don't recognize the triggers, BF2 for instance.

Some games that had full support for it that I have played are Rainbow Six: Vegas 1 and Lost Planet.

Well I mainly want it for the new NFS coming out, but I'll probably mess around with it in other games too.
