I am thinking about getting a SATA drive soon to replace this WD 160GB 8MB IDE hard drive but I don't want to lose all my data by having to format from scratch on the new drive.
Is there any way to copy it over to SATA?

I have the exact same hard drive and my mobo also only supports SATA150Pros: Much faster than the IDE 160 gig WD drive it replaced. I believe these are all shipping in the single platter version now. I probably haven't seen everything it can do as my mobo only supports 1.5 gig/sec, but even at the slow spec, it is a significant improvement.
Cons: Used it to replace a WD drive that failed on me. Can't hold that against the new drive, though.
Other Thoughts: Old drive is the first failure I've had out of a good 6 or 7 WD drives. I expect this one to last. I think it's a little cheaper now than when I bought it... you absolutely can't go wrong for the price. It's a solid drive.
