I played BF2 just yesterday. Today I start up SF and it just doesn't work. I click on the shortcut on my desktop, the BF2 thing appears on my screen and then when it goes full screen the screen just stays black, and then I have to go into task manager and close it. Both regular BF2 and SF do the exact same thing. Rebooting doesn't help at all, I tried several times. Anyone have any solutions?
the same thing is happening to me. i tried to clean the disc and see if it was a scrach that was causing it, but nothing happened... if you do find a way to fix it please email me nightprowler3624@hotmail.com or pm me cuz its really getting me mad.
This is so annoying the same thing happened to me this morning and its still not working
Has anyone rebooted their computer and tried?
I can't access either, but that might just be me - and I won't bother to restart my computer to see if it works just now.
Hope it works out!

Try removing the introduction movies.
E:\Games\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Movies
I doubt this will work but if it's not even passing these, removing them might be a help.
Also try disabling any refresh-rate forcing software you may have enabled.

Hmm, well I've removed them with no worries (only the intro ones, though, not the menu ones). It changes res a couple of times when loading BF2, but doesn't crash or anything.andyman99008 wrote:

I renamed all intro-movies into xx.bikl - hasn't had a problem yet..
About the menu movies, I actually changed them to include a picture of our clans letters and symbol.
(That background movie on the menu screen is huge and removing it will drastically improve game load time.)
Do rename tho, deleting them is such a "no-return" option..

I had just reformatted my drive, installed a new nvidia video card and installed bf2. I played for a while, then I decided to go ahead and install my ati hdtv card. After having the usual horrible time installing anything from ati, I went back to play some more bf2. Bf2 would not start. I would get the first screen and then drop to the desktop. Nothing would fix it. So I removed the ati card and catalyst, then reinstalled the latest bf2 patch. It finally started working again. Im not sure why this was, but I imagine people would use catalyst for their video card may have this problem too.
