Takes 10 seconds and a restart to turn UAC off. I dont know what MS were thinking with it, it has to be the No. 1 thing people claim as the reason for Vista being "bad".

I would 100% use Vista over XP. In fact I do
You know it's funny how much people bitch about Vista because of the UAC, and then go off and use Linux which does the exact same thing, only asks for a password instead. At least with Vista you can turn it off...
To be fair though, on *nix OS's it actually works, and isn't needlessly annoying. I've got it turned off on Vista, but it doesn't bother me on SuSe.

Yeah, run those Mac stores out of town on a rail! It's sickening to be on a college campus nowadays, with all these pretentious "Oh, look how thin my Mac is" and "It's so new and fun and cool, so I'm told"......ugh, sickening like the damn ipod craze.

PC's dont break as long as your not a dumbass! I've had my computer for almost 3 years now and i've never BSOD'd, and viruses... well yeah, if your unlucky enough to contract them. But reformatting a PC is easy.

PC: Software to do everything you could possibly imagine
MAC: Software to do the stuff you have to do...
LINUX: Haha yeah right.

(I wish linux ubuntu had better software choices honestly i loved it compared to windows except for the lack of programs im used to)

You guys don't even bother to set up the user options and you complain about it.

God damn Vista bashers.

Vista uses some resources, and it's not a perfect OS, but it has some signifigant advantages over XP. Networking, indexing, power management, they're just some of the improvements.

I run Vista on my laptop, a rather mediocre machine from mid-2006 (1.83GHz C2D, 2GB RAM), and it runs flawlessly, without even disabling a lot of services. Hell, I even use Aero transparency and the sidebar! It runs just as smooth as XP, only taking a bit longer to boot.

Unless your machine is a Pentium 4 at 2.8GHz with 1GB RAM and an X300SE, you can run Vista just fine. The problem is that everyone have heard that Vista sucks (See Mojave), and go in with a very negative approach. I went in with that kind of approach, and I got pleasantly surprised. I can't live without the networking it has anymore, it's so much better than it's predecessor.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

lolwat? PC's do break and it happens to everyone, the difference is if you are a dumbass then you can't fix it and lose everything... if you're like me you have a disk image of a fresh install which you can restore in about 5 minutes, and documents on a separate partition = nothing lost

also BSOD's can happen if your hardware fails, so that hardly makes you a dumbass

viruses on the other hand, you have to be fairly stupid to get most of them, theres some stealthy ones which are just bad luck

Its funny now that MS spends a tiny bit on advertising back at them Mac claims that all they do is spend money on advertising.... Especially since that has always been Macs thing.

Vista is a fine OS. It looks fantastic and functions pretty smoothly if your hardware (which most can) is compatible. When I made the move over to Vista I was loving it. I mean sure, I'm loving OSX now, but they are both great in their own right.

Vista is great. Everything is where you expect it to be and changing almost every setting is so much easier than it was before hand. The level of customization was a god-send and the general beauty of it just made it that little bit nicer to use. Sure, I had my fair share of issues but it was worth it because of what I had in the end. Don't diss Vista because you have heard negativity - that's just, well, wrong.

But OSX is great too. In their very different respects they operate on the same level: simplicity and function. OSX is smooth, easy and quick. Bundled apps in a fresh install are great - specifically iLife 08 - and everything just works. Program Files? Let's just copy one file from one location and drag 'n' drop into another, normally your mouse not even moving an inch.

They both have their benefits ... quit whinin'
