Nope, that is an extreme example to be sure though. To it's benefit, Crysis' gameplay is bland apart from the suit but I still found it fun if for that one thing.TheAussieReaper wrote:

Doesn't seem to be much of an incentive to need to go and get a new video card though. PC Games Industry is slowing down too much and can't keep up, and the console games industry that ports titles to the PC won't exactly push PC's to their limits as those games are designed to run on console hardware, which isn't exactly cutting edge anymore
Well the reason I am looking forwards to this is because older gpus get way cheaper. I have already seen a 8800GT for 75e and another equipped with Accelero S1 for 90e.Mek-Stizzle wrote:

Good stuff dirt cheap.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
Yup, I rarely buy current gen stuff when you can get such solid performance from 'older' hardware.Freezer7Pro wrote:

Remember Me As A Time Of Day

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

The 4850x2 is out on newegg. Its effing 430$. Who in the right mind would buy that? 2x 4870 can be nearly had for just a little more including rebate.

Wow, that's stupid. You can just crossfire two 4850's for less than $300.The#1Spot wrote:

yeah. new hardware is always overpriced at first. (looks at X58 mobos.... 300-400€)CrazeD wrote:

True, but usually AMD does better than that.GC_PaNzerFIN wrote:

I always chuckle when people say that CG can't get any better - look back at Crysis in 5 years time and you'll see it completely differently...
I will definately wait for dx11 before I upgrade. raytracing and tesselation will look awsome.Scorpion0x17 wrote:

I doubt very much that DX11 will have raytracing. I'm just saying there's a long way to go before CG can stop going anywhere.GC_PaNzerFIN wrote:

Exactamundo. The same will happen in another 5 years - todays games, as awesome as they look to us now, will look crap in 5 years time.The#1Spot wrote:

BTW, Panzer, what do you mean by "tessellation"? - you could be referring to a number of things and I'm just wondering which...GC_PaNzerFIN wrote:

Tessellations and color, Tessellations with quadrilaterals, Regular and irregular tessellations, Self-dual Tessellations, Tessellations and computer graphics, Tessellations in nature, Number of sides of a polygon versus number of sides at a vertex and Tessellations of other spaces, which one do you think he means?
Spoiler (highlight to read):
Yes I copypasta'd those from Wikipedia.

Yeah, but that just means dividing a complex shape up into smaller, simpler, joined-together shapes, so that they can be more efficiently rendered - i.e. like a triangle-mesh - nothing new in that.Freezer7Pro wrote:

I've a feeling Panzer was actually referring to volumetric rendering, but I could be wrong...

Still have a long way to go in terms of graphics, but an even longer journey in terms of physics
Wonder what shit will be like in 20 years time, crazy.
