wow nice drag race, never knew that the corvette was that fast!
Hell yeah! That Corvette is simply amazing. And your sig is 100% right, V8 > tuners. I don't get why people buy some stupid Honda Civic and spend thousands upon thousands of dollars to make them go as fast as a V8. Why not buy a V8 and put in thousands upon thousands of dollars to make that one faster?
It was a quite obvious outcome.
At least try to post something that is in the same universe for price range..Sup wrote:
Ehh the people trying to go drag racing who start with a I4 are kinda stupid, but with exceptions a 4 cylinder is likely to be lighter and if you want a nimble car, or better fuel economy a smaller engine in a light weight car may be the way to go... look at lotus (both their current offerings and the history of their racing).FrankieSpankie3388 wrote:

That said, why buy something like a corvette and try and mod it up? Build a tube frame chassis, it will be cheaper and lighter. Engines are limited by the wheels and how much traction they can put down so why use that? Source a used jet engine to overcome that. Hell if your running around in anything more then an old muscle car you could come close to pulling off a tube frame jet powered drag car for the cost of the modded vettes if you did the work yourself. If we all just went for the best/fastest route it would be boring, you have to do what is interesting to you and their is a certain challenge in getting every last bit of power from a small engine, or pulling 500+hp from a four cylinder. In the end all motor racing is "pointless" so its really had to argue that someone else is wasting their time building what they want to build when there is no point to any of it but the enjoyment of the accomplishment.
That said... I want a damn vette.
I would still buy one of the other cars over the ZR1.
round a track the gtr would cream them
Orly?

gtr has a renault gearbox in it
GT-R looks seriously ugly. That Corvette looked a lot nicer than I expected, nice drag race. The 599 in white didn't look that great, either.
GT2 is a looker, no doubt. For some reason, the 599 has never looked as say the F430, but that's me. Agree the GT-R is horrid.Jenspm wrote:
Too bad the GT2 is sexier <3
then comes the 599, then the ZR1, and in last place the god awful GT-R.
So some yanks finally built a car capable of cornering at high speeds, whoop-de-doo.
It's common knowledge that American car makers know straight line speed, and maybe, just maybe, they're realising that fast cars like to corner also.

Why do you Brits get so sore over a proper US performance car? Maybe it's because you have to pay more for slower cars.
Aston Martin is like a girl in heels. Shes sexy, but the bitch can't dance.Stingray24 wrote:

0-60 in what like 4.5?
It's a fucking classy car.SealXo wrote:

One of my uncles has a V8 Vantage, and I've recently been in the new Corvette Z06 (...Wow )
The V8 Vantage has this spine tingling roar. And looks much better. But the corvette is much more ideal.
I'd rather buy a junker and drop a 572 in there and make it look like a sleeper. You try and mess with me..feel the wrath of 700+ hp.
Probably because speed isn't everything. To me, the Corvette doesn't have everything that makes me love a car. It might be fast, but I saw one at the British Motor Show and its looks did nothing for me. Not that it's bad looking, but it didn't feel special.Stingray24 wrote:

If I was in the position to choose between a Corvette and 599, I'd take the Ferrari. I couldn't care less about how fast it is in a drag race or a lap of the 'Ring. Hence why I get bored of all the ZR1 hype.
♥
Exactly. They have no passion when they are made, they are mass produced and cheap materials...dont get me wrong the ZR1 is a nice car, but if i had the money i wouldnt get one, it just doesnt have that certain factor to make feel like its worth it.Toilet Sex wrote:

That would be fun.DaRkAcE wrote:

I’m talking handling, not just speed. From the late 90s on, the Corvettes have been equally capable to Euro cars that cost over 100K more. Of course if one had a choice between a Ferrari and a Corvette and money was no object, you’d take a Ferrari. The pedigree and exclusivity are amazing. However, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and in this case, the person who writes the check. If you want a Ferrari instead, I won’t fault you. I just ask that those who do not like the Vette to adjust their facts … it does handle, and it’s very fast. Those two things are not up for argument.Toilet Sex wrote:
