I usually play my PS3 on a DLP HDTV, but tonight I had to move my ps3 to my CRT tv upstairs. . .I have an HDMI cable for my HDTV and the regular 3 pron (red, yellow, white) cord that came with the system. I plug in the 3 pron cord like you used to do with all other systems, only, nothing comes up. Just a blue screen. No ps3 logo, no loading menu, nothing. Any suggestions here, I have no idea what to do. . .

(EDIT) Just read something that said holding down the power button for 10 sec. resets the video config. BRB with results. . . sorry for possible wasted thread. . . maybe. . .

You have to change the default output to an output your tv can display.

To fix it do this.

Turn off the system, then touch the power button on the system front for at least five seconds to turn the system on again. The video output settings will automatically be reset to the standard resolution

No worries, it's a common issue, I had it when I switched from my hi-def tv to a crappy crt a while ago

I always wondered how you changed that without going into the menu, good on ya Sheffa.

yup had this same problem... Its kinda annoying that it will auto detect HDMI but won't go the other way... easy enough fix though, you just have to reset your background every time
