Hi,

I'll got an older game that requires my desktop Colour Bit Depth to be set to 16bit, whereas I prefer it to always be set at 32bit.

It's a real anoyance to have to go into the desktop settings and change it so often each time I play the game and would like to know if there's any way around this?

I'm thinking there might be a way to append the .exe shortcut to something like "-color16" similarly to how you can force a different resolution but I have no idea what command to use.

I've tried searching google, etc but results on colour depth of cameras, printers everything else makes the search difficult.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Can't you run it in compatibility mode by right clicking it, then setting it up to run in 16 bit?

I've got the option run as 256 colours. But that isn't 16bit unfortunately.

I'll try it and see what happens, running with win 95, etc cause it is an old game. But doubt that will work.

Thanks though.

edit: 256 is worse than what I'm after and I don't have the option to run it under 16bit (I'm using WinXP latest service pack).

Ugh, I hate windows at times like this.

ATI Tray Tools can do that.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Damn Nvidia. lol

What I'm after is just being able to double click and have the bit depth change automatically, I'll go poking around Nvidia settings and see if there's any application specific tricks I can find.

Cheers. (Im out of karma so owe you one m8)

Try it, maybe it works for nV cards too.
