I was just playing Garry's mod with my friend who brought over his PC 6+ hours ago and everything worked fine, plugged his Ethernet cable right into the router and his system and were up and running in a matter of minutes. Into the game that he was hosting I get a connection warning and disconnect, then go to check my LAN servers and he wasn't there. Turns out he didn't have an internet connection either. That was 20+ minutes ago. I was perfectly fine, so I tried taking the power and modem cords out of the router for a few minutes and plugging it in, then swapping my xbox 360 ethernet cable with the one he brought and he still has no connection when I clearly do. What could have caused him to suddenly disconnect from my router?

Don't bump.

It might just be the lan card in his pc. Check that.

drivers for either of the network cards, or maybe the firmware for the router.

Uhm, okay, what are the steps I take?
He just kind of...lost connection to my router.

Check his network connection settings (DHCP enabled?) and try your computer on every port of the router. If I read your post correctly, yours still works fine and his doesn't. If all ports work with yours, focus on something with his PC.
