Well i thought I'd create this topic seen as remebrance day has just passed and I was thinking who here has had a long family history in the military.

For starters my  great grandad was in the infantry during the first world war.
Then my grandad on my mothers side was in the SBS during the second world war.
My grandad on my fathers side was in the infantry during WWII though I dont know what regiment.
My uncle was in the paras during the 70's and 80's.
My mother was in the royal signals during the 80's and early 90's just before I was born.
A relative on my mothers side of the family was a lieutenant colonel in the infantry.
My step dad was a para during the 70's and 80's he also served in the falkans.

And hopefully im off into the TA Royal artillery when im 17 (still at 6th form )
Dear God please let my karma one day reach 100, whether it be tomorrow or 1000 years in the future i want it to happen.

Maternal Grandfather served in the NT, Rabaul and I think he was in PNG. He's never really discussed the war with us, leading me to believe he might have walked the Kokoda track.

Paternal Grandfather had three brothers serve in the British Navy, Army and Airforce. My paternal Grandmother's sister's husband served in the RAF. There's more but yeah..... Cbf.

My granddad from my fathers side defected from the German army twice in WW2 and got saved by the Brits from nazi execution. My granddad on my moms side worked as a translator. When at the end of the war officers were becoming scarce, he was assigned to watch a some imprisoned jews. On Xmas he let them go into the forest alone to get some xmas trees. Wanting an xmas tree sounded reasonable to him.

Glorious military history there.

While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

No idea, really, but my mom's side's surname is "Flinck", which basically means "Quick", a military surname.
Dad's side is "Grann", which means "Grand", also a military surname.

No idea from what war, but hey, military surnames
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I guess nobody told him they're Jews (wait, yeah, why would Jews celebrate Christmas anyway) but hey, any reason to go outside of a Nazi camp is a good enough reason for me

As for my family, I dunno. Probably not. Cousin was in the Army few years back, that's probably about it

My dad was in charge of a pow camp in the Vietnam war, when the war ended he just let them go without doing any paper work. Everyone got helicopter rides home, he didn't. LOL

My granddad flew planes in the South Pacific during WWII along with his brother. My great great uncle (or something) was a general in the CSA during the Civil War. Here's a pic of his sidearm:

Maternal grandfather was in the RAF in WW2 as something grounds based.

My father did a tour in the RAF in the Gunners regiment, then another working in a quartermasters.

Not much else except i've seen pictures of my great grandfather or one of his brothers in what seems to be an WW1 army uniform so he and or his brothers were involved with that.
