Soup.

At the moment I have a 19" 1280*1024 monitor, I've had it for eons and have decided it's time for a change, I also currently use a 26" 720p tv for my PS3. My dad is gonna buy my tv and monitor off me to put in his room and upgrade his screen respectively, so I will have around £400/£500 to spend on a new monitor.

It needs to be

*1080p
*Atleast 22"
*Have HDMI ports for my PS3 and dvi/vga ports for my pc
*Be of good quality
*Have speakers

I've been using the goggles however my searches have yielded nothing so far.

P.S. I will be buying from the UK, so overclockers.co.uk / scan.co.uk / advancetec.co.uk etc

What aboot this?

i <3 my 22" acer monitor but it's 1680x1050, which is not quite 1080p. and everyone around here loves samsung and gloats about contrast ratios and blah blah blah, but i don't really care. i haven't seen anything better than my monitor IRL, and if i do, i'll just end up disliking my own monitor. ignorance is bliss.

and it also has freeview so you just need to plug in a digital ariel (indoor) and you're good to go with that aswell (no need to be in the kitchen with the berks)

Yeah that one's better (what white fusions posted). It's smaller but it's the same res, (so it's sharper) and it's also got a better contrast ratio and it's also designed for gaming. Go for that and god help you if you be gay and say the colour clashes with your room so you won't buy it (I know you'll say that)

This one is not good. It is pretty much the best 24" you can imagine. (For less than £500 at least)

When you compare the specs, the acer that fusions posted is better. Also it's cheaper. That dell is probably more expensive because of the brand, plus it has all those features like media card readers/usb/picture in picture (which I doubt surgeons needs)

I'd say that Acer that fusions posted is so far the best bet

Do not compare specs. Compare the panel. Acer has a TN panel where the Dell has a PVA panel. TN panels have way inferior colours compared to PVA.

If I'm buying a new monitor, I'd want a better brand.
My dad has a 19" widescreen that performs fairly decently.

Well this monitor seems to be getting some great reviews. Don't fault a whole company on a bad experience when a monitor or anything like that.

Well this monitor seems to be getting some great reviews. Don't fault a whole company on a bad experience when a monitor or anything like that.

Just look at the price. You don't get a decent, let alone specced-like-that LCD for that money. You get a 24" LCD. That's it. Acer make ok budget monitors, great value, but when looking for something to do more than display MS Word, they're just out of the question.
