CPU-Z is a fucking program.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

1. Download: http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpuz_148.zip
2. Extract the zip file on your desktop
3. double-click the .exe twice, so that two instances of CPU-Z open
4. Let one of them stay in the main screen with processor info etc. and choose the mainboard tab from the other instance.
5. Press the PrtScr button next to F12 in your keyboard
6. Open up paint
7. Press Ctrl+V in paint
8. Save the image
9. Host the image to www.imageshack.us
10. Link the image here

Anything can be upgraded if you really want to. Just post your specs, whether you're using AGP or not etc.. and you said you're using an X700. You could still throw in an AGP HD3850 and notice some big changes, even if your CPU is bollocks. Trust me. I used to have a 7600GS and I have a shitty AMD 3000+ xp (it was good when it came out 5 years ago) but I can guarantee you I'll notice big changes if I upgraded to an AGP HD3850. CPU bottlenecking really doesn't come into full play unless you're using really high end video cards + high resolutions etc..

Ok so yeah, just post your proper specs.

Oh yeah, also you said that you had to go from medium to low on BF2 because of all the shit on your computer. You know how to solve that problem.

Ok so basically, I'll say go for a HD 3850 AGP card. Forget what these guys are saying, you'll notice a big difference from your X700 or whatever it was. You have a decent amount of RAM and your CPU, whilst it's pretty low, isn't that low that even a HD 3850 would seriously bottleneck your performance.

Pretty much the best you can get is:

3200+ Socket-A CPU - if you can find one on ebay
2x 1GB 400MHz DDR RAM sticks - Leave the corsair in and put out the SpecTek's
Some good'ish AGP GPU in te range of 7600GT - X1950 - maybe even HD3850.

The most urgent thing you need to upgrade is the GPU, secondly the ram and last the CPU.

No he'll notice a big difference from a 7600 to a HD3850. Well, the other factor is whether his Power Supply is up to the task. Not sure what the difference would be like between the 3650 and the 3850, and how badly the CPU would bottleneck but I'm sure the 3850 would still show better improvements. He doesn't really need to upgrade his RAM, and upgrading his CPU is too much hassle for not so much gain.

It's all about maximising performance with respect to price and how easy it is to actually go ahead and do it, at least that's how it is in the case of War Man.
