Hi, A Friend of mine has just purchsed a Retail version of Vista 64 bit and 32bit (an all in one package) off of eBay and there is only one code attached. Will this code work for both operating systems?
On seperate matter I also would like to know to know whether retail and OEM version of Windows have the same data on the discs. i.e. can you use a retail code with an OEM disc?

Thanks

Only 1 CD code for both 32 and 64bit

AFAIK the data on the disks is the same. You should be able to use a retail CD code with an oem disk
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

LOL chill out, was only kidding. On the subject, some DVD's come with all the versions of Vista, so the CD KEY (why they call it CD key for a DVD?) activates the one that you bought, but not all of the versions contained in it. The question for your is: did it worked out or you want to assure that you are not going to be scammed?

I know with XP for example the key only works with the same type. An OEM key will only work with an OEM disc and a retail key with a retail disc.

And it all got revised with Vista.

One x86 disc
One x64 disc

Works with all levels of Vista and both the Retail and OEM keys.

If not, skip putting in the key, choose your version, and ring up a phone monkey once Vista's installed.

Similar question.  I have both a Vista Ultimate x86 and x64 DVD, along with a Product Key for both.  Are they independent or linked?  (I assume they're linked, as I got them through the let-MS-spy-on-you-for-3-months thing a while back.  Anyone remember that?  No?  Damn.)

The media is in no way connected to the product key. The DVD doesn't have copy protection which means you can make a billion copies of it (to slipstream SP1 and other programmes, I'm sure), but the product key is locked to the activation process.
