Ye I posted this a while ago ( http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=107399 ), some people were against the new version but I think its the right way to go.
Yea, but the specifications were only just now OFFICIALLY released. That means that manufacturing can begin.
shut up commie
Not too intrigued by the specifications themselves. Just another data transport interface. At least it's full duplex this time. The really positive aspect of this is that basic materials and manufacturing processes for optical transceivers may get a bit cheaper over the next few years.
I don't like the connector...

Thank god you can actually tell which way is up without smashing it into the slot both ways.
I dont have any use for it, the only thing i use a USB for is the keyboard, mouse, headset, and my iPhone
I dont need a 10x faster than 2.0 connection for either of those things...

It says it won't be for consumers until 2010, and USB 3.0 Motherboards will probably be expensive as fuck at that time, we'll have to see.
Oh wait...I'm thinking of another connector.Mutantsteak wrote:

It's stupid, the transfer speed can only be reached with flash drive media, but no flash drive is large enough to need that speed. The HDD storage is limited by ram and write speed so it doesn't make that much of a difference there either.
Over kill.
Over kill.
I think that it will go the way of Firewire. Useful only for special devices. I imagine motherboards will still host a plethora of USB 2.0 ports and then maybe a couple of 3.0 ports.
