So here's the problem.

My friend in the flat has a 360 and is addicted to Halo, basically playing it any chance he gets.  This wouldn't be a problem but it seems that when ever he's online playing, my PS3 just disconnects from the wireless randomly.  Even if I do get in a game it lags to fuck.  Anything that can be done to stop the Xbox doing this?  There's no noticeable difference to the internet on my laptop.

It's a first generation BT homehub and the xbox is connected via an ethernet cable if that helps.

Cheers.

Sounds like your broadband is bottlenecking when both of you play at the same time.  What type connection do you have?

Whats with th xHate today?
Try and limit the outgoing bandwith to a single port, should be able to do it with your router.

We've got  option 3 and an 8Mb connection speed.  I'll have another look through the router settings to see if I can find anything to do with limiting bandwidth to certain ports.  And to be clear, there's nothing wrong with either console.

is it a definite 8MB connection speed? IF you are going to be staying there for another 12-18 months then I suggest re-grading your option 3, getting the new HomeHub.

It also depends on when you actually use the broadband, some companies (Most likely Bt included) throttle broadband peak times.

Definitely a 8Mb connection.  Was looking at the new home hub actually.  Would that improve speeds that much, though?  And the broadband is throttled during the afternoon and early evening.  Downloads go a lot slower.

EDIT: Just looked on the BT website and got this:
We've just tested your line and can confirm your line supports the UK's most complete broadband package, BT Total Broadband. We estimate your maximum download speed to be 6.5 Mbps (Megabits per second).
On the port thing - I could only figure out how to open ports in the router settings.

Well it would increase your range by 75-100%, draaft N

If they throttle your broadband then that's your major problem, no matter how fast your connection is, throttling will decrease the speed.
