So I want some kickass hardware that will last for few years because I will soon start uni and won't have enough money for another complete build after this. I will wait for DX11 gfx cards to be as future proof as I can so there is no gfx on the list.

I will wait for couple months for prices to get down tho (new things are always overpriced).

Here is the list of parts:

Intel Core i7 920
Noctua NH-C12P cooler
Asus P6T Deluxe
6gb A-DATA 1600mhz DDR3 gaming experience tri-channel kit
Samsung dvd-rw drive
=900€

what ya think and any suggestions on parts?

Although I'd get NH-U12P just because of the through-the-case-airflow. They perform pretty similarly too.

I'd make this thread in a couple of months when the prices are down.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Can you even buy the copper version yet? It must be massively expensive.

I wouldn't.

Weighs a load, apparently. You'd have to lay your case down and reinforce your motherboard a lot.

Seems stupid, to be honest. Get a LCS system (I also know you were probably joking ).

Cocking hell. 76 pounds sans fan. 1.8kg as well. That's about double current large HSFU's.

I wouldn't like a big chunk of 1.8KG hanging off my motherboard sideways just via 4 pins at the base.

tbh the copper TRUE sucked. only 3 degrees c difference to normal TRUE. and if I was to spend as mucch to cpu cooler as the copper TRUE costs, it would likely include water.

To be honest I kinda sad I didn't go with Noctua the last time I was building. Austrians make excellent coolers.

like 4.2 lbs.  it's though, if i had the money, i would get it.

edit: then again for a similar price, you've got watercooling.  the TRUE Cu looks so pretty though.

The ram arrived in Finland this Friday.

I was 100€ short of the i7 920 & Asus P6T Deluxe combo.
Thanks to surprise tax return (which was exactly the needed 100€ ) I can now afford the build and I will order the parts for xmas.
