SANTA FE, N.M. — A man is in a northern New Mexico jail, accused of driving drunk and leading police on a chase that finally ended with him running over himself.
Roy Travis Aguilar, 21, was treated for minor injuries at a Santa Fe hospital and booked into the Sandoval County detention center on charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated, fleeing a police officer, careless driving and two other outstanding traffic warrants.
A tip on a police hot line Sunday afternoon reported a possible drunken driver on a highway.
State Police Officer Grace Romero spotted Aguilar's pickup truck swerving across both lanes of the highway, driving slowly and then fast. He refused to stop.
After narrowly missing other vehicles, police said Aguilar drove through a ditch and a barbed-wire fence before stopping. He tried to put the truck into park, but it ended up in reverse.
Police said Aguilar fell from his open door and both of his legs were run over by the front driver's side tire.
Don't drink and drive. It's pretty much one of the stupidest things you could involving a vehicle.
Why not? At most you get a slap on the wrist or maybe a fine. You have to get caught like 5 times before they revoke your license. Yeah, "rehabilitation" works SO well...Superior Mind wrote:

THIS is what they should do to drunk drivers
Driving buzzed (just over the BAC limit): $500 fine
Driving drunk (more than 'just over' the BAC limit; i'll let the courts decide that): $2,000 fine
Injuring someone while driving drunk OR buzzed: License permanently revoked so they can't get a new one in any state, possibly pay some of the injured party's medical fees
Killing someone while driving drunk or buzzed: License permanently revoked, vehicle repossessed, 5 years in jail, $10,000 fine
For the first two offenses, multiply the fine by the number of offenses. First offense for drunk driving = 2,000 bucks, second offense = 4,000 etc.
If you kill two people while drunk, then it's 10 years in jail and a $20,000 fine. Three people is 30 years, $30,000 fine... etc.
Too harsh? Driving drunk is something that EVERYBODY should know not to do. It's drilled into your head practically when you're born. If you're too fucking irresponsible and selfish to not drive drunk, then damn right the penalties should be harsh.

DUI's are fun.
Not.
Not.
Fixed for you.Hurricane2k9 wrote:

But seriously, that's idiotic. The worst that could happen? You could die, injure or kill others, etc.
