1.21 not installing correctly?

ok i just got 1.21 and installed it

says it insatalled successfully so i ran the game, tried to join my server

but it's red... wth?

so i look up on my other fav servers (moders and etc)

they are all red and it says i have older version..... WTF?

and btw it says i got 1.1.2696-528.0

i have to change it back to bf2 to get it work?

Same thing happened to me. Renaming it back to BF2.exe worked.

Are you running XP? If so, try doing a system restore prior to the 1st time you applied the patch. Then rename the BF2.exe back to the original file name if you changed it. Then apply the patch one more time.

ok here is my problem every time i try to get on anyservers i get message that say's this. this sever only allows players with unmodified content to join. revert your version of battfield 2 to the current official version to join. Now I understand what it's saying but if i want to go back to the other version how do i do this.

Does #2 and #7 fix your problem? I had the exact same error and this is how I fixed it. If you did not previously rename the BF2.exe file and applied the patch then you may have just gotten a bad download.

The first time I downloaded the patch from BF2s.com it was incomplete. I had to download it again to get the entire file.

I have downloaded 3 367.5mb patches... and I still can't seem to get it to work. I never changed any names... so I am trying to change the file to BF2.exe. If that doesn't work I will uninstall... reinstall... and then try applying the patch. If that doesn't work my glock 21c is gonna have some fun!

Well the glock is gonna be happy... the damn thing acted like it was going to work... but I load up the BF2 and it still says the same old version! I give up... please someone help!

What version does it say? You don't need to rename the BF2.exe unless you had done so previously before the patch. Sounds like you are getting a bad download. Try a different mirror and report back.

i installed 1.2 patch last week, and it also says 1.12 version, but believe me it is 1.2 now!
strange but it worked!

Yeah had the same problem and had to reinstall BF2, then SF, then applied the full 1.21 patch (which took forever to DL: 300+ MB). I was getting the modified content message.

Update punkbuster manually via their website after installing patch 1.21. I had red servers and an error message saying invalid CD key.
