I missed out on some epic deals this Black Friday. Namely, Left 4 Dead for $20 and NCAA Football for $30. Why? Because the place I work at is too fucking cheap to use direct deposit. Oh no, that'd make too much sense. We're still stuck in 1920, using checks. And I wasn't able to get my check until just 20 minutes ago, and by the time I cashed it it was too late - Amazon's deals for both games were done.

If my job used direct deposit, I would've had my money around midnight of this day (that is, when Thursday became Friday).

I think he meant: Why didn't you save the money from your last check so you wouldn't have to wait for the next check. He didn't mean, why didn't you not cash the previous check and keep it in your draw or something like that?

Yeah, and I cashed it because otherwise I couldn't afford more than a couple of Big Macs using my check card.

I've not seen a cheque for about 15 years, and my friends who work in banks only see them from 70+ year old women. Everything these day is done by cash, direct deposit or plastic.
