If it's coming from you and it's photography related I'd be wise to listen . Btw I started frequenting those photography sites you posted a little while ago.

You have? That's so

Hmm, "proper" video equipment - how much you willing to spend? Got a spare $20,000 - $40,000 -> should have a look at RED.

But seriously, I looked at the article and couldn't figure out if I would be able to see this well in Australia. Maybe I'll have a look after work. That should be around 1.5-2hrs after sunset, so would Venus still be good to see?

You're out of your mind..lol. That is not what I call starting out money. At least not for an amateur. I plan on staying under 10k. Of course my plans never "stay" anywhere.

You should be able to see it. It will look like a smilie face for you.

Yep.

Take note, though, that over where the sun is right now, the sun, Mars, Mercury and Antares are in a nice tight cluster as well.

When you look at Venus through a telescope it goes through phases just like the moon.

Silly american's your moon is up-sided-down.

It was beautiful here, no clouds and the moon was right in the middle of the stars, couldn't find camera though.

Supposedly its only 5 years till the next one.

Just got home from work. It's nowhere near the moon! And there is light cloud, so I can only see the moon and the two planets. I shall still try for some photos...

EDIT: Photos were crap.
