Does anyone know how to move the BF2 data out of My Documents and into something more sensible like Application Data?

I have a program (foldershare.com) that syncs my My Documents to several machines but I only play battlefield on one. Without BF2 data my whole profile is half a gig. With it, it's over 2 gigs. And some of these computers are syncing over the Internet! Unfortunately I can't tell it to skip/ignore certain folders.

When will game programmers learn? My Documents is for user generated files; application data for save games, settings, and stuff that you may want to backup; and Local Files are for stuff like cache files. I can kind of understand putting save game data in My Documents since many users don't know where else to look, but cache files? That's ridiculous. Audible is doing the same thing and putting logs in My Documents. Logs I say!!!

Totally agree, however, this is something that seems to be concurrent with all of EA's games. I have BF2, BF2Demo, C&C3, C&C:KW, C&C3 Demo, C&C Generals & C&CZH folders in there, all with save games, custom maps, profiles, demos....

Absolutely agree, its a pain in the ass. Its not where I would want to, or expect to, find those sorts of files for a game. AFAIK, it cant be changed either.
Can you not set-up your sync program to exclude certain files/folders?

Try hiding the folder,
Right click > Properties > Hidden

I'm not sure, but BF2 might not see it, and or folder share might still see it.

Sorry snake, the program is kinda beta. So it's missing some critical features, but otherwise nice and doens't hog resources like most auto sync programs.

If you can suggest a syncronizing program that is freeware, automatic (instead of running a sync when told to like sync toy), does this, and sync to network drives I'm all ears.

Donkey, not a bad idea, I will try that tommorow. I know foldershare didn't see my application folder when I was trying to setup pidgin's settings and logs folder until after I unhid it.

Nope, hiding the folder did nothing.

tbh all you need is the profiles folder in the battlefield 2 folder, delete all the other folders, while leaving, and save yourself some space, profiles on its own is very small, it only has your config settings in and details about your account.

hope this helps

Chorcai, this program is automatic. I don't tell it to sync at a certain time, it just continuesly does it.

Josh, I was hoping for something more automated then that, but at least next time I go to clear it I can keep my settings around and it wont start telling me basics again like I just started. Thanks.
