The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. from my techie days i remember taking apart all flavors of laptops, and they almost always have some proprietary connector on the hard drive that is easily removable. but after you take that thing off, its just the usual sata connection. cheez is the big winnar.
