Does anyone know of some place that acts like steam for movies? You make an account, all the movies you buy are tied to the account, and then you can download the movies tied to your account whenever?

stfu with the torrents and whatnot

I was hopefully looking for something to buy each movie individually, not basically rent movies.

I found this, didn't know if there was something big that I was missing.

I'm just curious, why would you want this anyway?

I suppose it would be nice to be able to log on to your account on someone else's computer to download a movie you have that you want to watch, but that would take forever most of the time.

Flash drives are so small (physically) and have such big capacity nowadays that you could probably fit at least a couple movies on a little drive that'll go on your keychain. Why not do that?

NetFlix could make a lot of money by offering a digital download type deal.

That second site you gave seemed a little fishy.

After formatting a new hard drive I remembered just how win steam is, especially on a new hard drive. Just get all the downloads going and wait, very nice. No disks to deal with, you don't have to be there to keep the process going, and you can do them all at once.

The only steam games I own were made by valve. It's nice to be able to bypass bothering with the disk, but why would I want steam running when i'm playing something that doesn't even need it, like CoD4 or Fallout 3. Excluding steams other features like in-game messaging of course which has alternatives.

PROTIP: COD4MP doesn't need Steam.

netflix has unlimited instant streaming, but its only for certain movies, obviously not the new ones, and I have no idea how they determine what movies are "instant downloads" cause some are newer, and some are classics

Right, that's why he said "i'm playing something that doesn't even need it, like CoD4 or Fallout 3."

No, he said "why would I want steam running when i'm playing something that doesn't even need it, like CoD4 or Fallout 3?".

I am pointing out that COD4 through Steam doesn't actually need Steam.

There's nothing to point out, it was never said that CoD4 did.

From what you are talking about, I think perhaps Amazon or iTunes might be your best bet. Now if you wanted to rent movies, that'd be different. A friend of mine just used to get his movies from Netflix, back them up on 1:1 copies of the discs and then return them and watch them at his leisure.
