Great, after working at my job for over 3 years, they just recently thought of putting up internet blocks. They have some program that seems to block web sites after you visit them, so proxy sites only work once and then they're blocked. I was looking around and found a link on wikibooks about some programs you can put on a USB drive that will work to help bypass it. I tried playing with the options in IE to remove the proxies and adding my own but nothing seems to work. Does anybody have any good ideas for how to get around it aside from proxies?
There are mailing lists that send you loads of proxy sites daily. After a while though I'm sure you'd be getting a word from your boss.
I think your just going to have to cope with it = /

I believe for firefox you can set up your own custom proxies, you could also do remote pc to your house, or theres a program called vnc, where you can log on to your computer from work and basically go through your pc on the internetFrankieSpankie3388 wrote:

You know, you most likely signed a contract when you got hired that included an acceptable use policy for the internet. Eventually you will get caught, and they will take disciplinary action against you. If you are visiting external sites, you're not working. I've seen people get let go for this stuff.

If he doesn't need 'net access to do his job, why does he have it?
Obviously from his post he isnt using these sites for work related tasks.Scorpion0x17 wrote:

You could get fired for purposely avoiding a firewall in place by your work.

Damn small linux + flash drive.
I dont technically need internet access for what I do, doesnt mean I dont have it. I guess I am not in your typical large business environment.Scorpion0x17 wrote:

Oh man... I was hoping that he meant our national one that's coming in.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
I saw that and wanted to try it. But it looks like you have to load it through BIOs and stuff. I don't want to go through BIOs on a work computer.CrazeD wrote:

Suck it up, dude, and do your surfing at home.
Or get a netbook and do your surfing there?

Vote max for President of the World. He's gonna ban proxies with the intention of limiting stuff.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
