don't worry, i used the search function and didn't find any help, so don't flame me for being a search noob.

is it me, or is it really hard to hit ground targets with the pilot controlled rockets?  i always ALWAYS overshoot the target.  unless, of course, im hovering 2 feet above the ground.  but when coming from a 25 or 30 degree angle from above the target, i always overshoot.  then the next time around, i'll frustratedly overcompensate and UNDERSHOOT before promptly welding myself into the sand.  is there some simple trick like putting your target in the empty space between the reticle and the artificial horizon or something like that?  i noticed the reticle goes below the horizon when you're diving at a target, so i thought maybe that was the simple solution, but i haven't played since realizing this so i haven't been able to test it.

...or shoud i just let the gunner do his job and not worry about firing my rockets?

lol, any help would be appreciated.

AHA

I ll bet that you are using the round teicle for aiming!! That never worked for me either. Same result too! Grrr.

I use the 2 horizontal lines on either side of the round reticle, they give me better results. The round reticle moves up and down relative to these lines. The lines seem to a better predictor of flight path.

Now don't ask me about circle strafing a target, still getting the hang of that maneuver.

PLEASE give your gunner, may you always have good ones, the shots. The TV missile outrange the AA missile. Have your gunner take out the fixed AA from a distance then rock and roll. Just don't keep flying towards the AA while the TV missile is in flight. By the time your missile gets there, you WILL be in range of the AA. If the TV missile misses then you will most likely have 15 seconds to ponder what went wrong.

Watch for flags that have turned white. Give your gunner the shot. Most people cap in their vehicule, which is too bad for them, so as long as your are within 450m of the flag in question.....

Gunner, PLEASE, remember you do NOT need to have a visual before firing. Just fire the damn thing, and correct the target as the missile gets closer. As long as your pilot is pointing you in the right direction, you will a fair chance to hit. Correct the missle target??????? You can did that? YES.

Finally, please use VOIP (same squad). Create one and invite them in. Non-communicating attack chopper crew reduces their effectiveness by 3 billion percent. The number of times I have told the pilot to turn for a target....most pilots (i use the term lightly) have blinders because their rockets only fire straight ahead. They get a form of tunnel vision. They don't seem to notice anything, like the attack chopper moving in behind him or the fully laden transport chopper headed for your main base. Small things like that. Grrr

Where your rockets hit relative to the HUD depends on aircraft movement.

Forward movement & ascent => high hits

Descent => low hits

Try it out on an empty server, you'll get a feel for how it works.
Think of it as leading the target (even a stationary target). If it is moving down the HUD you need to aim below it.

To make the rockets hit close to the circle you need to hover or fly a "glide slope" toward the target.

Go in an empty server and practice. Then when you think you have it. Practice some more. Flying and killing in the chopper is pure skill. There is no power up or helper....
