Anyone use these? Any idea about lifespan and security on these things?

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
They're kinda hit or miss. Some claim to be able to magically jump phases, but I've yet to see one that actually did, so most of them will be sketchy at best in homes with older wiring, and leave you with connectivity between only certain rooms. As far as I've understood from colleagues who've had units home for testing in real-world conditions, many of them also don't like spiky stuff like water heaters and microwave ovens.
That being said, when they work, they seem to work decently well. Certainly worth taking home for a test, assuming that you can return them if they don't work the way you want them to.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
I heard that if you have two fuse boxes or something you're pretty much screwed cause you have two seperate power networks or something. Probably what mikkel's talking about. That's why we didn't get one. (I don't know anything about electricity though so don't take it from me.)

Hmm thanks guys, I'll go wireless instead. Hopefully wireless N won't be as shitty for gaming as wireless is generally.
Updtate: I've got a wired adsl modem/router, can I connect this via ethernet to a dsl wireless router? Google is kinda telling me that if I turn off dhcp and change the ip on the wireless router it basically becomes an access point. But can anyone confirm that the dsl/adsl combo won't cause problems and whether or not I will need to leave at least one computer connected by ethernet?

I've got homeplugs in my house, had for over a year, never lost a signal once.
