  • Creating a New Partition (for OS install) w/o Reformatting?

I've got two 250 GB hard drives, neither have any partitions. I used to have Vista on one and XP on the other, but I've since changed to have just XP on one and use the other as storage. What I'd like to do is create a new partition on the drive with XP on it so that I could have Vista and XP on one physical drive (two different partitions) and then use the other for storage. Is this even possible? Or would the ensuing reformat from creating a partition completely wipe out my drive?

I'm pretty sure I won't be able to do this, but I wanted to confirm with the techies first (I'm too poor to just buy another HDD as storage, though I definitely need to)

Also, don't give me any of that anti-Vista bullshit please. This isn't a thread open to debate, I just want to know if this can be done, and if so, how I can accomplish that.

EDIT: Guess I'll try to make a quick little table explaining what I'm after

Past
Drive A: XP
Drive B: Vista

Present
Drive A: XP
Drive B: -storage-

Future (Desired)
Drive A: XP + Vista
Drive B: -storage-

Curious if there are any alternatives to PartitionMagic (read: that can do NTFS).

Otherwise I'd move would I could/wanted to keep to PHYSICAL_DRIVE_B and start over.

I did this w/ the standard Windows partition maker, I have XP pro (32) on one partition, and Vista Ultimate (32) on the other.  250GB drive, but I split it 160GB for Vista and 60GB for XP.

It's possible, but I don't know if it will wipe you're existing data.
