I always leave writing essays to the night before. I really had hoped I'd learned from my mistakes a little... Oh well. Anyone else a prolific procrastinator?
Gooners is also doing an essay too.ghettoperson wrote:

I do it all the time, even though I tell myself hundreds of times, I'll get it done.
Lol Ghetto, I've done the exact same thing! Though mine is nearly done, just need to conclude all points.
Yes. Very much so.
Actually, almost constantly...unless it's a REEEEALLY big project that'd take a long ass time. For example, for flight school my class has to copy a Terminal Chart of Long Island to EXACT specifications. So...from what I heard from the people in Year 2 of the program, it takes around 16 hours to complete. That's something I CAN'T procrastinate on.
Example of a terminal chart (Los Angeles):

Essays though? Yeah. As long as it's under around 5-7 pages though.

I always do that. Works out fine though.

Me, When I can complete something a week before it's due I say I'll do it the next day and so on and so on until the night before it's due. Then start on it when I get extremely bored or right before I go to sleep.

Shoot, depending on the assignment I might just do it in class (e.g. math homework)

No.
And I'm not typing this.
I'm working, instead.

Fap now, Fap Later?
Yeah, I have a problem with it myself. Still haven't started my stuff that's due tomorrow. I'm trying to get into the habit of just getting it out of the way, but I'm not having much luck.
This; I got an essay due Tuesday that we got last thursday. I'm writing it tomorrow night...Hurricane2k9 wrote:

Every school year I've told myself it's the year I'll change, but nope. Been doing this since 9th grade lawl.
Of course, now it's biting me in the ass what with my chances of getting into a good college (for freshman admission at least) shot to near zero.
(That's university to you British "people")

If it becomes a serious issue, set up homework/study sessions with your friends/classmates. You'll actually get work done, probably, maybe. You'll need someone who /cares, though.
This week is finals week. I've got a final tomorrow, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I haven't done much, if any, of my homework assignments over the past month, so I'm not on top of the material like I was for the midterms. Plus one of these classes is one I'm retaking (got a D in it last year) and I still don't even get it. I had all weekend (starting from Friday afternoon) to study, and only 2 hours ago did I actually start studying for my final that's tomorrow.
Oh well, at least the pain will only last a couple days, and I've done this many times before.
I'm gonna study all night tonight, go to bed late, wake up around noon, take my final which is fortunately at 3pm. Come home from that around 6pm, eat dinner, and start a marathon study session for my Tuesday final (the one for the class I'm retaking), might sleep, might not. That final is also at 3 to 6. I'll come back from that, eat dinner and sleep a little, then start studying for my last final.
Essays aren't really a big deal though. I remember for one of my classes last year I didn't start writing my essay until midnight the night before it was due, finished at 5 or 6am and then went to class at 8am to turn it in. I did that for the first one and told myself I'd never do it again. Sure enough, for the next two essays I did the exact same thing.
Procrastinators work better under pressure. If I've got a huge length of time to do something, even if I try working on it early, I'll just do it half-assedly and keep getting distracted. But if I've got a strict time limit, I perform well under pressure and generally do better. (In that class where I wrote the essays way late the night before, I got an A on all of them.)

@ghetto and everyone else that is the same: Do you also find you work better in the afternoon/evening than in the morning?
Probably, maybe, not. Actually. See my previous post, above...MadKatter wrote:

(there is a reason, you see)
Define "morning". I work better in the "am", but only the kind of "am" where it's still dark out.
ok, 'morning' as in shortly after you wake up.mtb0minime wrote:

Also define "work." When it comes to my actual work (the kind that gets me paid, with money... not with 'the gift of knowledge') I'm best in the morning (as in 9AM onward) and afternoon / evening. (till around 8PM) When it comes to schoolwork, I cannot work until the late afternoon. I find it hard to work right after school, ESPECIALLY on Fridays, because the last thing I want to think about when I get home is schoolwork.

In that case:Scorpion0x17 wrote:

when it comes to either afternoon/evening, or morning, I choose afternoon/evening. I'm more awake, able to focus/care more.
Yup. Can't work until at least 9/10 at night, and even then it's hard. I start to actually make progress after about 1.mtb0minime wrote:

So you're just better working in the 'morning'.
