Is there a way to? Mine seems to load XP pretty slow. I have hardly any startup programs, so that's not the problem.

Run a mix of malware removal software and free up enough space to defragment efficiently.

Ok this is what I always do. My PC runs really fast:
Step1: I disable services http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=103312
Step2: set Windows visual options to max performance: Control panel>System>Advanced>Sttings (under performance)>Set "adjust for best performance-untick everything except the last two
Step3: Install and run: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Syst … tVis.shtml
Obviously running CCleaner and defragmenting tools every couple days helps too.
Forgot to mention the obvious-disabling start-up programs
post them here and I'll try to tell what to disable and what not.

CCleaner is your best bet along with any other registry cleaners you can find.
